To me personally, Twitter is so much more effective than Facebook. Less time-wasting more constructive & productive feedback from fellow followers & access to information. Information that interests you.

Twitter and facebook each attract a very specific target group.
Facebook a more social and entertainment stream , where as Twitter is a better ‘networking’ tool for people of like interests.
You follow what you want, drop it when your interest wanes, it’s socially impartial because you’re using it purposefully.Your interaction is greater and you’re not restricted to JUST your fan pages, or current friends list.
Facebook’s new design is mirrors twitter closely, however one’s facebook friends probably have a different set of interests to the one’s befriended on twitter.
